• Are QAIS-air-® products safe?

  QAIS-air-® products are designed with the utmost consideration for safety. It is UL listed, meaning it has been tested to meet national safety and sustainability standards.

• Is UV light bad for me or my pet?

  The UV light used in our products is not unsafe for humans or pets. The amount of UV used is weaker than sunlight. Also, the UV light source is enclosed inside the device so no direct exposure.

• What is a photocatalyst?

  Photocatalysts are materials activated by ultraviolet light that decompose particles as small as 0.001 microns. HEPA filters can only filter particles as small as 0.3 microns.

• Do QAIS-air-® products have any parts that need to be regularly replaced?

  No.

• Are QAIS-air-® products effective against the Covid-19 and influenza viruses?

  We have not conducted tests with coronaviruses or influenza viruses. However, we have tested using a certain type of floating virus (the name of the virus cannot be disclosed due to the Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs Law). With a disinfection and deodorization performance test in a 108 sq. ft. enclosed space, we have confirmed that it can remove more than 99% of the virus within 2 hours.

• Do QAIS-air-® products generate waste by-products?

  There is a by-product that eventually decomposes to compounds such as water and carbon dioxide. The amount is minimal, as water droplets do not form around the product nor does the carbon dioxide concentration in the room increase.

• What is the difference between QAIS-air-® and other air purifiers?

  Air purifiers absorb odors and other foreign substances with the use of filters. QAIS-air-® actually destroys the bacteria and viruses that cause the odors.

• How do QAIS-air-® products remove odors?

  Odor is controlled by disinfecting the odor-causing bacteria. QAIS-air-® also decomposes odor-causing substances into compounds such as water and carbon dioxide.

• Can QAIS-air-® products be used where ammonia smell is an issue, such as a bathroom or diaper changing area?

  QAIS-air-® products are effective anywhere in your home where you are concerned about ammonia odors.

• Are QAIS-air-® products safe for my pet?

  QAIS-air-® products are designed with your pet's safety in mind. Due to its low-voltage design, your pet will not experience an electric shock even if the cord is bitten through. The cord comes with a cover for extra protection. The PCO technology deodorizes without releasing chemicals or ozone emissions, so it's safe for your pet to be around the product.

• Besides ammonia, what other pet odor substances are there? Are QAIS-air-® products effective against them?

  Toilet odors, cooking odors, and household odors are composed of multiple odor components. Among them, this product has been proven to have deodorizing effects mainly on pet toilet odor = pee (ammonia), feces (ammonia, acetaldehyde, trimethylamine, acetic acid), and pet body odor (acetaldehyde and acetic acid). Ammonia is an odorant that is present not only in pee odor but also in feces odor, so a certain effect on feces odor can be expected.

• Does QAIS-air-® help eliminate the smell of pet poop?

  Poop odor comes from hydrogen sulfide and other sulfur compounds. The current models do work on deodorizing hydrogen sulfide.

• What is the typical lifespan of a QAIS-air-® device?

  The effect of deodorizing may start decreasing in approximately 6 years with 24/7 use as the UV-LED bulb starts to weaken.

• Do I need to replace a filter? How much does it cost?

  There are no filters in our products. It costs nothing to maintain.

• Do QAIS-air-® products emit ozone?

  QAIS-air-® products are certified by CARB (California Air Resource Board) for strict ozone emission standards, making it safe for pets and humans alike.

• My new QAIS-air-® emits an odor. Is this okay?

  If there is an odor coming from your new air purifier, we suggest running the unit for 2-3 days, in a separate room or garage, to give the machine some time to air out.

• Do QAIS-air-® products have any parts that need to be regularly replaced?

  No.

• How long does the UV light inside these last?

  Normal UV lamps lose their illuminance and become ineffective after about a year, but this product uses LEDs, so it has an extremely long life compared to lamps. However, LEDs also gradually decrease in illuminance with use, but the design is capable of satisfying our standard deodorizing performance based on UV illuminance after 6 years of continuous operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Although the actual effect may vary depending on the usage environment and maintenance conditions, deodorization is still possible even after 6 years of continuous operation.
